Sundown DrivePrivacy policy
Sundown Drive is run by Haroldas Jotautas. This page explains what the app and the site collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions or requests about your data go to hello@sundowndrive.app.
What we collect
When you sign up you pick a handle. You can also add an email address so you can sign in on another device or recover your account.
When you record a drive, the app collects your GPS trace — latitude, longitude, time, and whatever else your phone reports (accuracy, speed, heading, altitude). We match that trace to the roads you drove and keep it for as long as your account exists.
From your drives we also build everything you see in the app: the roads you've lit, your districts, badges, places, crew membership and other activity. All of it is included in the export described under "Your rights" below.
If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address, the city you entered, and which ad brought you here if there was one.
On your device
The app stores your sign-in token, the tag from any ad that brought you here, and whether you've dismissed the email prompt in your browser's local storage. The homepage stores a random visitor id in session storage — it's gone as soon as you close the tab. Neither the app nor the site uses cookies.
Why we collect it
- Location: to match each drive to roads and fill in your map.
- Email: to send sign-in links and the occasional service notice, nothing else.
- Waitlist: to tell you when your city opens, and to know where to open the app next.
- Page views: to measure whether you came from an ad, without identifying who saw it. We rely on legitimate interest under GDPR for this.
Who else sees it
Two outside services see part of it, and nobody else does:
- OpenFreeMap draws the map in the app. Loading it sends your device's IP address and the area you're viewing.
- Resend delivers email on our behalf (sign-in links, waitlist confirmations). It processes your address in Ireland (EU).
Everything else stays on a server we rent in Germany (EU).
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else.
How long we keep it
- A sign-in or verification link: 24 hours, whether or not you use it.
- A page view or a waitlist join, recorded for ad measurement: 180 days.
- A waitlist entry: until you remove it with the link in the confirmation email.
- Everything else — your account, drives, claims, badges and the rest — for as long as your account exists.
Your rights
Under GDPR, or the equivalent law where you live, you can see what we hold on you or have it erased. Both already work in the app: go to Profile > Settings > Account to download everything as a file, or to delete your account and all its data. A waitlist entry can be removed at any time with the link in the confirmation email.
You can also ask for a portable copy of your data (the same export covers that), have something corrected, or object to the ad measurement described above.

Children
Sundown Drive is not directed at children. You must be at least 16 to use it.
Changes
We may update this policy. Any material change will be posted here before it takes effect.
